With our ever-increasing climate change, we are now more prone to experience wildfires than ever before.  The buttons below, provide important information about the significance of being ready for a wildfire emergency.

The California Fire Safe Council, supports communities across the state in wildfire preparedness and resiliency through grant funding, programmatic support, and technical assistance. 

 

The Firewise USA® program provides simple, effective steps to help communities reduce the risk of destruction from wildfire and offers the possibility of reduced insurance costs.

Use this Wildfire Evacuation Checklist to see if you are prepared in the event of a wildfire.

Wildfire Issues and Real Estate

Pursuant to California Assembly Bill AB38, when you sell a property in a High or Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone (FHSZ), you will need to disclose if you have documentation within the previous six months, that meets the AB-38 requirement.  If not, the buyer and seller must negotiate who is responsible to bring the home in  compliance, within one year of the closing date of the sale.

Wildfire Preparedness

This is a comprehensive in-person presentation, to inform the public of how to be prepared for the next wildfire and how to fire harden your home.

This Guide includes specific recommendations for how to retrofit
existing components of a home to withstand wildfire. Each section
contains an explanation of how the component is vulnerable to
wildfire and what can be done to improve that component.
